So yes it’s been a long time since I blogged
consistently.
Here’s the latest on writing. I found out that I’m a
finalist for the New Visions Award with Tu Books for my first book, Remnants of
the Rising Sun. Yes, I had pretty much
forgotten about this book too. But Tu helped me breathe new life into the
manuscript, and now we’ll sit and wait for a winner to be announced on March
31.
I’m not going to lie.
Finding out I was a finalist was a big surprise. And then I looked at
the names of the other finalists, and even their names are legit. So of course the next logical step was to
cyber-stalk them. Like their names, they
are indeed legit. Really legit. Thus, a freak-out ensued.
Reponses to said freak-out:
BFF Sara: I checked
them out last night myself and then ... Decided not to say anything.
BFF Emily: You’re legit too. You are 2 legit 2 quit.
Hubby: Well, at least you won’t have to worry about winning
now.
Hubby knows I don't like things sugar-coated, and you really can't find a person more supportive of my writing career. But seriously, what my he said was true. Suddenly all the pressure was off. I can’t tell you how honored and humbled I am
to have my name listed with these people.
I have since been in contact with most of them, and they are amazing and
talented. I can’t wait to read their
books and see them on the shelves in bookstores.
Stay tuned because we (the 5 finalists) are going to do a blogging series. Will keep everyone posted.
That's so awesome! I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to see who wins. :D Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenni! ...and now I feel like I actually have to start blogging again.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I don't even know you and I'm happy for you. Don't be so hard on yourself though. You're obviously a great writer since you made the shortlist. It's anybody's game now! (I went to Upenn too. *Owl love*)
